Norway has during the last 30+ years become an important oil and gas supplier. The Norwegian oil reserves represent 1 percent of the World's total proven reserves. In 2005, Norway produced 2,4 million barrels of oil per day. Using only 5 percent of it's own production, Norway is the third largest oil exporter in the World. With regards to gas - Norway contributes to 2 percent of the World's gas production and is also one of the 5 largest gas producing nations.
