The Jær Museum, consists of several museums and activity centers. It is a regional science centre for South-Western Norway and also a regional museum for seven municipalities in Jæren, near Stavanger.

The Vitengarden provides you with sensational architecture, nature and farm thrills. The museum specializes in farming and agriculture but also has special exhibits.

The surrounding nature is special - typical Jæren, with rolling hills, the nearby sea and mountains to the east. The area has several trails where you will find Bronze Age graves, Iron Age and Middle Age stone walls and even the remains of a German commando post from WW2. There are barbecue facilities available.

The Museum farm has animals of old breeds. You can ride in a horse-drawn cart, jump in the hay and participate in farm activities.

The picture below is part of a German commando center on top of the hill at Hanaberg. The Germans build a large outpost with large canons, radar, and anti-aircraft weapons. Luckily, these weapons were never used during the war.

This burial mound on top of Hanaberg is from the Bronze Age. It was at that time covered with soil and grass.
