Stavanger University Hospital (SUH or "Universitets sykehuset i Stavanger" in Norwegian) was founded over 80 years ago. SUH offers health care services to a population of more than 300,000 people. The main hospital is situated in Stavanger, but several clinics and medical centers are spread over a large geographic area, as well as prehospital units.

Approximately 46.000 inpatients receive treatment and care at SUH every year. SUH is a large hospital with almost 5500 employees.

SUH is organized in ten Divisions and with three support Directorates.The Divisions are: Acute Care Medicine, Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Internal Medicine, General and Orthopedic Surgery, Hematology and Oncology, Psychiatry, Rebabilitation, Multiple Clinical Sciences and Radiology and Laboratory Medicine.
