...Beach VolleyBall...

For the eighth year in a row, Stavanger City has had the pleasure of hosting a beach volleyball tournament in the city center. Tons of sand are brought into town and the quayside is turned into a beach area! This year (2006) more than 240 players from 48 countries participated in the Conoco Phillips Open World Tour.

“We want to be known as the Wimbledon of Beach Volleyball, said seven-time SWATCH-FIVB World Tour gold medalist Bjorn Maaseide to FIVB.

Nearly 200.000 people join this event in Stvanger harbour which is one of the largest happenings in Stavanger during the summer. 50 nations are reprensented

The main court seats 4.300 spectators. The event is broadcasted on both Norwegian national television and Eurosport
